The remote operates on a regular or rechargeable 9v battery not included rechargeable most economical and provides wireless infrared signals to the track. The following extra items are provided with this system 18 volt 2 transformer, terminal strip, soundtrax sound demo tape and a bell air release endless tape cassette. For direction control, speed, emergency stop, bells, horn chimes and programming.
The 21 page instruction manual is provided. Put sound in any of your diesels with only a small speaker and two capacitors. The system is easy to install on your layout as the power connection has two red wires to the track and two white wires to the transformer. An external floor speaker can be used under the layout if you don't want to install on board speakers or you can use both.
A phono jack is provided for connection of auxiliary sounds sources from tape CD players for other bells and air release from endless tapes. The rear of the sound unit has audio out, subsonic filter in, audio in, power connector and remote sensor inputs for infrared sensors or other sound systems to be used with the soundtrax system. This centralized sound system avoids a couple of hundred dollars per diesel required of other sound systems.
The system allows not only the selection of diesel manufacture but volume adjustment for exhaust, load, turbo, fans and master volume. I did not need these on a 35 x 35 foot layout.
